(in English) We demonstrated a simple technique to generate 10.3 Gbit/s QPSK signal by direct modulation of an RSOA with modulation bandwidth of 3.2 GHz.
The modulation speed of RSOA was accelerated by applying instantaneous injection/depletion currents at the transition edge of the modulation signal.
We also demonstrated 10.3 Gbit/s upstream transmission over 80 km in WDM-PON configuration with a coherent receiver.
In this demonstration, error-free transmission performance was achieved with 5 dB margin under the assumption of employing Read-Solomon (255, 223) code, and it should be noted that the performance was realized without any electrical equalizer or remote node amplifier.
