[Poster Presentation] An Effective Audio System for Safe Driving

(in English) Vehicle technologies have been challenging to realization of safe driving, but many serious road traffic casualties still happen. Listening to a proper tempo music (bpm=85~120), and with an adequate volume music (55dB~70dB), a driver can drive safely. But most effective factors of music for a safe driving have been not identified. In this paper, from the aspect of contributing rates, identifying the most effective factors of music for a safe driving are studied with an experimental design method. The selected factors are ‘tempo’, ‘volume’, ‘sound localization’ and ‘awareness’. A driving simulator (DS) was used with the measuring instrument which can measure driving skill such as ‘a reflection time’, ‘the number of failures’,‘precision of driving’ and so on. The contributing rates of each factors of the characteristic values measured with the DS were calculated with the experimental design method for the most effective factor of the values. From the results, the ‘tempo’ and the ‘awareness’ are important factors for the ‘precision of driving’. The contributing rate of the ‘tempo’ is 45%, and the ‘awareness’ is 44.2%. It can be suggested that the high vehicle operation can be obtained to select the music in terms of the tempo and the awareness.
