To achieve 3D kinematic analysis of artificial knee implants, 2D/3D registration technique, which uses X-ray fluoroscopic images and 3D CAD model of the knee implant, needed labor intensive and time-consuming manual operations to set initial pose of 3D model and that was one of the problems for practical clinical applications. We proposed the method to automatically determine the initial pose using feature points extracted from the previous and next frames. In previous method, however, 3D poses are estimated unstably in some frames. In this study, we introduce information of relative knee motion, obtained from a lot of analyzed 3D kinematic data of artificial knee implants, to improve initial pose estimation and automation of 3D kinematic analysis. As a result of experiments using actual fluoroscopic images, we showed stable result in proposed method than the conventional method. |
