Cooperative QoS Control based on Receive Buffer Sizes and Parallel Connections between Multiple TCP Sessions on Information Gathering Server

(in English) In the IP network constituting the current Internet, communication quality (Quality of Service: QoS) of individual users is not guaranteed under high network load condition. In particular, to clients which require urgent network access or have inferior communication quality, it is essential to maintain QoS at a certain high level. In this paper, we focus on an information gathering service like human sensing systems, where a server collects information from many clients at the same time, and we propose the method which adaptively tunes TCP socket buffer size and the number of TCP connections according to the policy which preferentially ensures target QoS for high priority clients. Through extensive simulation experiments, we demonstrate that proposed methods can ensure the required communication quality within physical limitations according to priorities.
