Fast Face Position and Posture Estimation using Voting Method Based on Local Image Features

(in English) We propose a system to estimate human head positions and poses from camera images by using a voting process based on the relations between the position of each extracted image feature and the head pose parameters (3-d head position and orientation). Those relations are modeled as relative positions of extracted image feature to head base position using a sample dataset. We call the model
“offset set”. Head pose are also jointly stored in the model. We stored the “offset set” in a k-d tree. Voting process can be performed effectively by reducing the number of votes with nearest neighbor search using k-d trees. In addition the proposed system can easily extend the measuring range of head pose by
employing multiple cameras. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed system.
