A Study on Method for Estimating Network Traffic using Logistic Regression

(in English) Network traffic volumes continue to increase rapidly with spread of the broadband access and increase of Internet backbone capacities.
Moreover, services provided over the Internet become more diverse.
In order to prevent network traffic congestion, it is necessary to estimate network traffic volumes so that network administrators can prevent deterioration of quality of services by estimating and regulating traffic in advance.
Therefore, we study a method to estimate network traffic volumes with external factors, for example, calender, weather data, and so on.
In this paper, we suggest a method for estimating network traffic using logistic regression, and prove its effectiveness by comparing existing method with ours.
