Objective Evaluation of Somatic Sensation for Mechanical and Thermal Stimuli

(in English) In clinical situations, lawsuits for nerve injuries and treatments of patients with temporomandibular joint have come to pose serious problems. It is hoped that the subjective criterion of the somatic sensation would be established. In this study, we have analyzed electrical activity when given the mechanical tactile stimuli using a piezoelectric actuator. Realistic-shaped cortical potential imaging was applied to the somatosensory evoked potential. As a result, the position of the stimulation can be distinguished. In addition, we performed a time-frequency analysis for the thermal stimuli using a peltier actuator. As a result, the difference of the maximum power was confirmed between constant and varying temperature settings.
