Evaluation of a Coaxial Tube Shape Suitable for PIM Measurement using Standing-Wave Coaxial Tube Method

(in English) This paper evaluated the influence of characteristic impedance of the used coaxial tube on PIM measurement. First the PIM levels were observed using the coaxial tubes with 33Ω and 50Ω impedance. It showed effect of the different characteristic impedance influences only coupling strength. When the observed PIM level of 50Ω coaxial tube was calculated by coupling strength from one of 33Ω coaxial tube, the results of 50Ω coaxial tube was about 5dB higher than one of 33Ω coaxial tube. For investigation of the reason, coupling strength was evaluated when the coaxial tubes with different impedance were used. By the characteristic impedance both amplitude and frequency of maximum coupling strength changed. Here the change of the frequency could be calculated by the fringing capacitance and the electrical length expansion. It was denoted that the calculation might help a decision of a suitable length of the specimen and a suitable coaxial tube for PIM measurement.
