Throughput evaluation for ARQ systems using rate-compatible LDPC codes

(in English) The concern with Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code which is able to be close to Shannon limit has been growing. As an application of the LDPC code, Rate Compatible-LDPC (RC-LDPC) code has been studied by combining the LDPC code and Auto Repeat reQuest (ARQ) systems. The RC-LDPC code can adaptively change the coding rate according to a channel condition. The conventional ARQ with the RC-LDPC code gradually improves the error collection ability by gradually decreasing the coding rate according to the number of packet retransmissions. Thus, it causes the increasing number of retransmissions and may deteriorate the throughput performance since it gradually decrease the coding rate and initial retransmissions results in small error collection ability even if the channel condition is bad. In this paper, we evaluate the RC-LDPC code with a suitable retransmission scheme in terms of the throughput performance.
