This paper discusses the effect of an automatic gain control (AGC) and analog to digital converter (ADC) on receiver performance in FDM based narrowband wireless communication systems. In such systems, since each communication channel is very narrow and these channels are packed without break, it is difficult to extract a desired signal by an analog band pass filter. Therefore, other multiple communication signals become to in-band interferences. One method is employing a low intermediate frequency (IF) architecture. The purpose of this paper is to provide theoretically analysis results of the effect of the AGC and ADC on receiver performances under the environment. Analysis results indicate that i) in-band interferences decrease a bit resolution of an amplitude of a desired signal, and ii) the effect is depended on not a desired signal power to the sum of undesired ratio (DUR) but the distribution of the amplitude of each interference and the number of channels (the number of interferences) in IF bands. |
