SAR of antennas built into laptop PC

(in English) The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standardized the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) measurement procedure for the use of wireless communication devices in situations other than close proximity to the ear. The regulation with respect to human exposure to the wireless communication device for data communication has been investigated in Japan. In this study, the SAR evaluations for laptop PC with antennas built-in on display screens by numerical analysis are conducted. The procedure has been defined in 1-g average SAR evaluation in the U.S. FCC (Federal Communications Commission). However it is not obvious whether it is possible to apply to10-g average SAR evaluation. The frequencies are 835 MHz, 1.95 GHz, 2.45 GHz, and 3.5 GHz. As a result, 10-g average SAR was below the exposure limits in public exposure at each frequency in Japan when applying the evaluation procedure to individual transmitter by the FCC. In addition, SAR measurement for simultaneous multi-band transmission antennas is investigated using the numerical simulations.
