High Isolation in Silicon Waveguide Optical Isolator Employing Nonreciprocal Phase Shift

(in English) This report describes an optical isolator based on a silicon nanowire Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). The optical isolator employs nonreciprocal phase shift, which is fabricated by directly bonding a magneto-optical garnet Ce:YIG on the silicon waveguide. The excess loss of isolator is successfully reduced by using directional couplers to construct an MZI. An optical isolation of 28 dB is obtained at a wavelength of 1552 nm.
