Development of a Radiated RF Electromagnetic Field Immunity Test System for Personal Care Robots That Introduce Functional Safety
Masayuki Murakami (TIRI), Hiroyasu Ikeda (JNIOSH) EMCJ2012-121
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The personal care robot is a new product field. Safety criteria and measurement methods for robots that operate in human living space have not been established. To realize a practical personal care robot, risk reduction based on functional safety using electronic devices such as MPUs is required because of the difficulty with ensuring the safety of robots using only inherently safe designs. The immunity of personal care robots should be measured from the viewpoint of functional safety. In this project, immunity test procedures for safety verification are designed, and devices to activate the safety functions of robots and detect the safe state of robots are fabricated. The test system is designed so that time-consuming radiated RF electromagnetic immunity tests can be smoothly performed, and the system is evaluated by using an actual robot. A compound radiated RF electromagnetic immunity test system that meets performance criteria for both functional safety and normal immunity testing has been developed.
