Measurement of the specific adsorption of biotinylated microbubbles using a quarts crystal microbalance

(in English) In addition to the application of microbubbles as contrast agent for diagnostic ultrasound, microbubbles are also applied as the drug carrier in drug delivery system. Targeting microbubbles enables to get the strong signal on ultrasound tissue imaging and deliver drug to the objective site. In this report, we prepared biotinylated mirobubbles and evaluated the specific adsorption of microbubbles with a quartz crystal sensor. When a substance deposited on the QCM electrode, the resonance frequency decreases. By tracking resonance frequency, we can observe attachment of microbubbles. We attached Biotin-SAMs on the QCM electrode and monitored binding behavior of streptavidin and biotinylated microbubles. The resonance frequency declined rapidly by biotinylated microbubbles compared to the case of normal microbubbles. That indicates this method is effective to evaluate the specific adsorption of microbubbles.
