Speckle suppression methods can be roughly divided into three categories:
the first one is based on the statistical characteristics of a speckle,
the second one uses multiple echoes measured in the different frequency bands, and the third one uses multiple echoes measured from the different directions respectively. However, the each of those has shortcomings to be improved.
On the other hand, research in engineering application of the mechanism of stochastic resonance has been advanced variously.
In this study, we study a speckle suppression method based on the scheme using stochastic resonance.
In this method, random fluctuations of speckle patterns are generated by giving transmitted ultrasonic beams irregular vibrations, and then speckle patterns are suppressed by averaging. |
