Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) is a member of scanning probe microscopy family. The MFM is a powerful tool, which can measure and manipulate a magnetization of a sample surface by scanning a magnetic tip. However, a threshold position of the magnetic tip for the magnetization manipulation has not clarified yet. Here, we propose a vertical magnetization manipulation method, and clarify the threshold magnetic tip position for magnetization manipulation. By selecting the magnetic tip position, we can create single-domain state, clockwise vortex state and counterclockwise vortex state on an elliptic nanodot. |
