Improvement of Edge Detection Method for the Non-Reference Estimation Method of Coring Degradation

(in English) In the many kinds of video system, an objective picture quality estimation method without the reference picture is required. To respond this, non-reference estimation methods for the block artifact, the mosquito noise and the spatial blur have been studied. On the other hand, the degradation of delicate detail becomes significant on the recent video coding. Such degradation named "coring degradation" should also be estimated without reference picture. To realize this, we have proposed the estimation method for coring degradation using the spatial blur estimation and edge/flat area division. To enhance the performance of absolute estimation, we use the flatting for non-edge blocks, reconsidering of edge detection and the calculation of blur. As the results, the estimated value of coring degradation are converged to the same value in the pictures with small degradation. This means that the absolute evaluation may be recognized.
