Spatial resolution transformation and tone compression of wide dynamic range image by an importance-map based method

(in English) With the progress of imaging devices, spatial resolution and dynamic range of images are improved drastically. On the other hand, due to the diversification of display systems, there are various displays with different spatial resolutions and tone numbers. For display purpose, spatial resolution transformation and tone compression should be done properly. In this paper, we propose a method to extract an importance map from a WDR image, transform its spatial resolution and compress the tone based on it. The importance map is obtained by the luminance gradient map, the histogram map and the saliency map. And the spatial resolution transformation and the tone compression are done by the seam carving using the importance map. The effectiveness of the proposed method was confirmed by experimental results.
