| (in English) | An optical isolator is a nonreciprocal device used for protecting active devices from unwanted reflections. Since the existing isolators are composed of bulk optics, it is difficult to integrate them with other optical devices. In this study, we fabricated a GaInAsP/InP waveguide optical isolator and integrated it with spot size converters for coupling optical fibers with high efficiency. This device realizes monolithic integration with other optically active devices without difficulties. Surface activated direct bonding is used to integrate a magneto-optic garnet as an upper cladding layer onto a III-V compound semiconductor waveguide. A maximum optical isolation of 28.3 dB was obtained at a wavelength of 1558 nm for TM mode. | |
