Throughput Performance of CRE with a variable bias in HetNet

(in English) Heterogeneous networks (HetNet) are expected to handle increasing demand for mobile network capacity and has been mainly discussed in LTE-Advanced. In HetNet, cell range expansion (CRE) technique will be attractive way to further increase network capacity, by expanding equivalently the cover area of Pico-eNB compared to that of macro eNB. We propose new type of CRE, adaptive control CRE in which UEs can automatically choose optimal cell selection offset, CSO. The aspects and algorithm of the proposed CRE are described in comparison with the conventional method operated by a fixed CSO. System level simulation results including average and cell edge user throughput are provided as parameters of the number of UEs. We confirmed that the proposed CRE can improve cell edge user throughput while remaining the average user throughput performance.
