Aiming at the realization of “Super Hi-Vision” (SHV) satellite broadcasting, NHK is studying a scheme to make the transmission capacity higher. A Multilevel Coded (MLC) Modulation using LDPC Code and Set Partitioning (SP) is one of realizable candidates for getting close to the Shannon limit, but the performance evaluation of MLC Modulation using these combinations is not fully conducted. In this paper, we propose a transmission scheme using MLC Modulation, which apply SP to 8PSK and the transmission frame is adjusted to MLC Modulation. In this scheme, we only apply BCH parity to LSB in a symbol of 8PSK, which has the largest Euclidean distance. On the other hand, the concatenation of LDPC parity and BCH parity, whose code rate is adjusted to show the best performance under AWGN channel, is applied to the rest of two bits. At first, we report the computer simulated performance under the AWGN model. We also show the result under the satellite channel model using the 12GHz satellite transponder characteristics. Finally, we compare the performance of proposed model and the performance of ARIB STD-B44. |
