In this paper, we propose a new method to detect occlusion boundaries and estimate depth ordering along them. To tackle this difficult problem, we design latent topic model expressing regions and boundaries simultaneously. Occlusion boundary detection to a single image is very hard problem, but recently it is indicated that 3D layout estimation result is helpful to enhance detection accuracy. However, since 3D layout estimation to a single image is also hard problem, previous method assumes the image has fixed layout components and cannot estimate 3D layout when the assumption is corrupted. To avoid this assumption, our method handles 3D layout components as latent topics and extract layout topics from training data with regard to boundary attributes. Without assumption about 3D layout, our method is capable to detect occlusion boundaries of various images. Experimental results confirm that our method can detect occlusion boundaries and estimate depth ordering on various images. Key words occlusion boundary detection, 3D layout estimation, topic model |
