For the spaceborne synthetic aperture radar, the high azimuth resolution and wide swath imaging is difficult due to the contradicting requirement for pulse repetition frequency. To overcome this difficulty, the displaced phase center antenna technique has been proposed. The technique uses the multiple receiver apertures and digitally forms a beam on receive. This paper describes some factors that prevent the beam forming in actual observations and an experiment result with airborne Ku band SAR. The experiment result demonstrates the significant azimuth ambiguity suppression capability with the technique. |
