To realize a wireless cloud system, a wireless local area network (WLAN) system with Radio over Fiber (RoF) is one of the important systems. In this system, a telecommunication carrier directly connects each subscriber with an optical fiber, and processes the physical (PHY) layer and the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. This system reduces the operating cost of replacing the access point (AP) with a new one based on the new wireless communication standard. This system causes large propagation delay between stations (STAs) and an AP, which leads to system throughput degradation of the wireless LAN with RoF. The conventional method improves the system throughput, but it needs to modify the function of all STAs. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new method, which only modifies the function of the AP. This paper shows the throughput performances by computer simulations and the degradation mechanism. Furthermore, this paper reveals that the proposed method greatly improves the system throughput. |
