In this paper, we study frequency-domain channel estimation scheme for training sequence inserted single-carrier (TS-SC) block transmission using frequency-domain equalization (FDE). In TS-SC block transmission, since the TS can be utilized for channel estimation, no pilot block is needed. Recently, we have proposed a frequency-domain iterative channel estimation with simple averaging filter (SA-CE) for TS-SC block transmission and showed that it improves the channel estimation accuracy and achieves a bit error rate (BER) performance close to the perfect channel estimation in a slow fading environment. More recently, we have proposed an RLS-based frequency-domain channel estimation (RLS-CE) and showed that it provides better BER performance than the SA-CE in a fast fading environment. However, the tracking ability of the conventional RLS-CE is limited. In this paper, we introduce the polynomial prediction to improve the tracking ability. We evaluate the BER performance of TS-SC transmission using polynomial prediction RLS-CE in doubly-selective (time- and frequency-selective) fading channel. |
