Protection of privacy in JPEG files using Robust Reversible Information Hiding against Re-encoding

(in English) The privacy of unknown person may be included in the digital images unintentionally taken as a sight. The action of the file upload of it would constitute an invasion of his/her privacy. The JPEG files may include Exif information which is regarded as personal privacy. For these two privacy problems, we propose a privacy protection technique for JPEG files using reversible information hiding. We are able to protect personal privacy when we erase Exif information from the JPEG format and degrade the privacy region by adding some noise. We embed Exif and Huffman coded AC components of DCT coefficients of the privacy region into a whole image so that some specific users are able to restore the original image and Exif information. We use Zeng’s method as a reversible information hiding. His method has resistance against re-encoding. Therefore, the embedded information including Exif and AC components of DCT coefficietns survives in re-encoded privacy protected images. In the experiments, we investigate our method and show an example of privacy protection image.
