Recently, diffusion weighted image (DWI) signal in magnetic resonance image have been evaluated for functional brain study, instead of blood oxygen level dependence signal induced by susceptibility effect between oxy – deoxy hemoglobin difference in vessel components. We have investigated with Monte-Carlo simulations in a vascular model whether DWI signal was influenced by cerebral blood volume (CBV) and susceptibility effect. The results indicate that DWI signal was influenced by not only diffusion constant but also CBV and susceptibility difference. |
