Strategy Prediction in American Football with Decision Making Process Model

(in English) This study proposed a method for predicting the strategy a head coach will choose in American Football. The method models the planning process of the head coach before predicting the next strategy using a multi-class classification based on one-versus-one SVMs. The model assumes the existence of the implicit goal of a play and estimates it from the past strategies he/she chose as well as the current status such as the ball position and the score. The proposed method estimated the strategy with accuracy of 51.2% while a naive method with accuracy of 39.4%.
