The Haraguchi and others suggested Lazy Self-organizing Map which applied the world of the ant to Self-organizing Map. In this methods, a node which is far away from the winner on the map of competitive layer becomes lazy neuron. A lazy neuron has low learning rate. Lazy SOM provides the map that represents the distribution of input data. However, we consider it is better to choose node that is most different form the winner as lazy neuron in order to maintain the local structure of input data. Therefore in this research, we propose similarity based neighborhood learning for self-organizing map. Quantized error and neuron usage rate were largely improved by proposed methods. |
