Packer Identification Based on Difference Execution Traces Between Input and Output Programs

(in English) To prevent the analysis process, most of malware are compressed or encrypted by packer . We can support manual unpacking process through automatically determining the type of packer each applied to each malware sample. In this paper, we propose a method to create specific packer signature by the difference of execution trace between input and output programs of the packer. With experiments using 14 existing packers, we show that our proposed method can identify them precisely. Moreover, we show that the method can identify two different packers applied to the same malware sample.
