Overlay cognitive radio system permits an unlicensed, secondary, user (SU) to transmit own data simultaneously with the licensed, primary, user (PU) over the same band with secondary aiding to improve the primary transmissions. In this paper, we propose a distributed cooperative MIMO secondary transceivers design to advance both primary and secondary performance by exploiting multiple SUs as decode and forward (DF) relays to PU. Each secondary transceiver with multiple antennas is designed either to minimize its power while achieving the required primary data rate or to maximize its rate while protecting the primary receiver from extra interference caused by SUs. Numerical results prove that the proposed design is able to improve both cell edge primary and secondary performances for good secondary signal to noise ratio. |
