Experimental condition to excite surface oscillation of an attached bubble during ultrasound irradiation -- Measurement using a laser Doppler vibrometer --

(in English) The measurement system using a high speed camera and laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) was constructed to evaluate threshold conditions where an attached bubble shows the surface oscillation mode in acoustic standing wave of 28.0, 38.8 and 81.3 kHz. The high speed camera enabled to visually observe the bubble shape. LDV was used to quantitatively measure the displacement oscillation of bubble surface and obtain its frequency spectrum. Initial bubble radius ranged from 29 to 190 um. The frequency analysis of the displacement-time curve of bubble oscillation revealed that the sub-harmonic component was generated when the surface oscillation mode appeared. It was investigated how the threshold condition of the sub-harmonic generation varied depending on the parameters such as initial bubble radius and the sound frequency. As a result, we succeeded in formulating the threshold condition to excite the surface oscillation modes.
