Binary tomography using a nonlinear switched system

(in English) We have shown that the stability of an equilibrium in a nonlinear switched dynamical system can be theoretically proved using a common Lyapunov function based on a double Kullback-Leibler divergence. Because all solutions to the differential equation stay within the box-constrained subspace corresponding to the domain of the divergence, the Lyapunov function is well-defined with respect to its domain. We apply the initial value problem of the system to obtain a box-constrained optimization solution for computed tomographic image reconstruction. In this paper, we demonstrate that, by means of numerical experiments, the images with the proposed system are higher in quality than those made with the conventional method not only for the binary tomography, but also for the continuous tomography such that the maximum pixel value to be reconstructed is previously given.
