Distortion Reduction Using Volterra Filter for Ultrasonic Parametric Loudspeaker in Nearfield Usage

(in English) This paper proposes a distortion reduction method based on Volterra filter for nearfield ultrasonic parametric loudspeakers. In the proposed method, the system from the ultrasonic parametric loudspeaker including modulator to the measurement microphone is treated as a black box, which is identified with a 2nd order Volterra filter. A distortion compensation filter based on the identified filter cancels the distortion caused by the loudspeaker and nearfield air propagation. The proposed method can reduce any type of ultrasonic loudspeaker, as far as the Volterra filter can model unknown parts of the loudspeaker system, such as nearfield nonlinear propagation and ultrasonic emitters. Experimental evaluations of an ultrasonic loudspeaker with SSB-AM (Single Side Band Amplitude Modulation) show that the proposed method reduces the distortion from 15% to 2% in total harmonics distortion.
