[Special Talk] World trends of the Unmanned Vehicle

(in English) An Unmanned Vehicle is a vehicle without a person on board. The unmanned vehicle may refer to UAV (Unmanned Areal Vehicle) which is sometimes called “drone”, UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle), UUV (Unmanned Undersea Vehicle) and so on.
The Unmanned Vehicle becomes to perform very intelligent and complex processes due to the development of various technologies such as sensor technology, remote operation technology, and automatic control technology. The United States have extensively used the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for successful reconnaissance. The Unmanned Vehicle is not only used in the battlefield, but also in civilian areas, due to its ability to pursue dangerous missions without the operator on board. Some examples are counter terrorism, mine clearance operation, plant surveillance, fire-fighting, disaster recovery, and so on.
In this presentation, I introduce some of the featured Unmanned Vehicle systems, and overview the trend of the Unmanned Vehicle. Then, I seek for the possible approaches of Research and Development of the Unmanned Vehicle in Japan.
