Development of a Rope-jumping Motion Recognition System using Kinect

(in English) Rope-jumping is one way of diet or training. In this study, we focused on the jump rope exercise you use the equipment without a rope called "air jump rope". We developed a system to determine the rotational motion of the rope- jumping exercise. The system analyzes the motion of jumping rope using the moving image processing using the IR camera. Our system recognizes a polystyrene sphere attached to the air jump rope by the Kinect sensor and rope skipping motion by utilizing the rotational movement. In this paper, we describe the performance evaluation by the overview and the evaluation experiment.
