Owing to the wide spread of Long Term Evolution (LTE), the capacity of cellular system has increased. However the user traffic volume in the cellular network has been growing more rapidly due to the spreads of smart phones and tablet computers. Recently, in the crowded area such as urban railway station vicinities the capacity enhancement technique using the small-cells architecture is investigated. However the MIMO transmission performance characteristics in the urban small-cell environment, that is the low Base Station height and the low Base Station power condition, are not figured out. In addition, although there are a great number of pedestrians in the area, the influences of pedestrians to the MIMO transmission performance characteristics are not figured out. In this paper, to investigate those issues, We carried out the MIMO channel measurements in Shinagawa area and Shibuya area at 2.225 GHz band and we compared the capacity between the Space-MIMO transmission and the Polarized MIMO transmission. The experiment showed that the Polarized-MIMO transmission had an advantage in the LoS environment, while the Space-MIMO transmission had an advantage in the NLoS environment. In addition, we showed that the Space-MIMO performance became relatively higher in Shibuya area because of the phasing effect caused by the pedestrians. |
