Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes a frequency-domain transmitter filtering technique assuming the channel knowledge at the transmitter for turbo coded single-carrier transmission with our previously reported frequency-domain puncturing at the transmitter and turbo equalization at the receiver. In the coded single carrier transmission under the frequency-selective fading channel, the inter-symbol-interference (ISI) severely degrades the error rate at the receiver. Furthermore, the frequency-domain puncturing causes additional ISI for the sake of increased number of coded bits to be transmitted. We propose an additional use of one-tap frequency-domain filtering of the transmission signal at the transmitter to further reduces the ISI or increase the frequency diversity for increasing the received signal power. In order to take into account the ISI reduction at the receiver by the turbo equalization, the proposed frequency-domain transmitter filtering is designed with the ISI level as a parameter. When the ISI level parameter is set to high, the proposed frequency-domain transmitter filtering works so that the channel variation in frequency is compensated so that the ISI observed at the receiver is decreased. On the other hand, when the ISI level parameter is set to low, the transmitter filtering tries to enhance the channel variation so that the received signal power at the receiver increases (frequency diversity). Simulation results show that with appropriate setting of the ISI level parameter according to the number of iteration in turbo equalization, the proposed frequency-domain transmitter filtering reduces the error rate compared to the case without transmitter filtering. We also show the effectiveness of the frequency-domain puncturing compared to the conventional time-domain puncturing with the number of receiver antennas as a parameter.
