Non-Binary Turbo Coded Spatial Modulation

(in English) This paper proposes and investigates a novel coded spatial modulation (CSM) with non-binary turbo code (NTC) for the band-limited channel. Spatial modulation (SM) and Generalized Spatial Modulation (GSM) have been proposed as a kind of multiple-antenna transmission technique. In SM (GSM), the transmitter selects one (or more than one) antenna(s) from multiple transmission antennas according to the transmission information, while the receiver estimates the number of transmission antenna utilized at the transmitter and then can estimate the transmitted information. In the conventional SM and GSM, the number of constellation points and antennas are restricted as power-of-two. Moreover, high power efficiency but non-binary modulation such as Hexagonal Quadrature Modulation (HQAM) are ordinarily utilized since the number signal points is not power-of-two. When the system utilizes non-power-of-two number of antennas and/or non-binary modulation signals, the conventional system cannot make full use of its potential. To mitigate this problem, this paper proposes two types of non-binary turbo codes and applied them to non-binary SM transmission. Finally, we show the bit error ratio (BER) performance of the proposed system.
