The integration of brain-machine interfaces (brain-computer interfaces) into rehabilitation settings is a promising new approach that enhances the whole rehabilitation process. In this context, it is necessary to develop a new method for selecting individual electroencephalogram (EEG) feature in short time. This study aimed to develop a method to estimate the EEG reaction for the hand movement using EEG synchronization patterns during the electrical stimulation to forearm muscles. We measured 31-channel whole head EEG from two healthy subjects during 20 Hz and 100 Hz stimulation and analyzed the EEG with the time-frequency map. In the results, the EEG synchronization patterns were observed even in the stimulation in the similar form of that during hand movement. In conclusion, the reactive EEG channels and frequency bands for hand movement can be identified with the EEG pattern during electrical stimulation. The results suggest that the current method is possibly used as a key technique for the stimulation driving brain-machine interfaces. |
