This paper presents the mixed rules cellular automaton (MCA) and considers its basic learning algorithm.
The MCA is governed by mixed rules depending on the space. As compared with standard single rule cellular automaton, the MCA can generate more variety of spatiotemporal patterns.
The purpose of learning algorithm is storage of a desired teacher signal and control of its stability. The genetic algorithm is used in the learning where the chromosome is a subset of rules and the fitness corresponds to local stability.
As a typical example of the teacher signal, we use a periodic control signal of the dc-ac inverters. As parameters are selected suitably, the teacher signal can be stored and can be stabilized. The CA dynamics in the learning process is analyzed by the digital return map. |
