On a Cubic Convolution Interpolation

(in English) The cubic convolution interpolation and spline interpolation are well known as a good tool for digital image processing. In particular, the cubic convolution interpolation is attractive for some area due to its smaller computational complexity. For the cubic convolution interpolation with 4 points, one free parameter α is retained. Different concepts have been used to determine this parameter; α=-1, -3/4, -1/2, and so on were presented so far. This paper proposes a different method to determine α as -3/4, and explain its rationale. We also provide numerical examples to verify this parameter. In addition we discuss a boundary condition for the first and end sections that the cubic convolution interpolation can not handle.
