Estimation of maximum Lyapunov exponent based on generalized synchronization in semiconductor lasers with optical feedback

(in English) Semiconductor lasers with time-delayed optical feedback have infinite dimensionality in general.
The methods for estimating Lyapunov exponents have not been established yet.
In this study, we propose a method for calculating the maximum Lyapunov exponent in semiconductor lasers with time-delayed optical feedback by using generalized synchronization.
The maximum Lyapunov exponent is numerically estimated and compared with the exponent calculated from the linearized Lang-Kobayashi equation.
The maximum Lyapunov exponents calculated by using the two methods are almost identical.
This method can be applied for the estimation of the maximum Lyapunov exponent in experimental systems.
