[Invited Talk] Effect of Microwave Fields on Reduction of Coercive Field in Perpendicular Medium

(in English) Recently, microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) has been widely investigated to realize an areal density of HDDs exceeding 1 Tbpsi. The MAMR is the method to reduce the switching field by exciting a spin system using ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) phenomenon. Understanding the dynamical process of MAMR in dipole-dipole coupled granular perpendicular medium is essential for the MAMR applications. We have experimentally investigated the dynamical reversal process from the dependence of switching field on the strength of in-plane microwave magnetic field. The transition of reversal process from a non-uniform rotation to a uniform rotation was observed when the frequency of microwave field increased toward the ferromagnetic resonant frequency.
