The reduction in electricity consumption of relay terminals is a crucial subject in today’s mobile ad hoc network (MANET) composed of mobile terminals only. This study aims to decrease the electricity consumption of relay terminals by controlling the electric power for communication. The simulation of ad-hoc communication was conducted first in the static environment to clarify the effect of controlled electricity power of the transmission and of the reception. It showed interesting results. Although the decrease in the transmission power improves the data-delivery rate, the saving effect of electric power was very small. Although the increase in the reception power level conserves the electric power, it decreases the data delivery rate. Based on the result of the first simulation, the second simulation; MANET communication, was conducted using the control cycle where both power levels, transmission and reception, are controlled. It was confirmed in these simulations that the simultaneous power control of the transmission and of the reception increases the data delivery rate, and saves the electric power of terminals relatively. |
