[Invited Talk] Perception and Synthesis of Singing Voice

(in English) The author and his co-workers proposed a singing voice synthesis system that can synthesize a singing voice, given a speaking voice reading the lyrics of a song and its musical score. The system is based on the speech manipulation system {it STRAIGHT} and comprises three models controlling three acoustic features unique to singing voices: the fundamental frequency (F0), phoneme duration, and spectrum. This paper firstly gives an outline of the singing voice synthesis system, then introduces psycho-acoustic experiments based on the system for investigating perceptual effects of the acoustic features unique to singing voices.
