Physical layer network coding is well-known to improve frequency utilization efficiency in bi-directional wireless communication via a relay. Generally speaking, forward error correction is applied in order to mitigate bit errors happening at a relay being forwarded to the following links in regenerative relay systems. This report proposes a novel error correction technique for physical
layer XOR network codings, which is regarded as one of regenerative relay systems. The proposed technique not only improves transmission performance but also to reduce complexity at the relay.
The proposed technique applies a unitary precoding to offset phase rotation of a channel gain by exploiting the reciprocity between channels in an uplink and a downlink in systems with time division duplex (TDD). It is evaluated by computer simulation that the proposed technique
attains a gain of 8 dB at BER=10^-5 compared with AF network coding in a system with the use of OFDM. |
