A sharing study between IMT systems and Fixed-Satellite Service systems in 3.4 - 3.6 GHz frequency band

(in English) The 3.4 - 3.6 GHz band is identified as one of frequency bands for use by International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) at World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) – 2007. WRC adopted the agenda item (WRC-15 Agenda Item 1.1) to consider additional spectrum allocations to the mobile service on a primary basis and identification of additional frequency bands for IMT and related regulatory provisions, to facilitate the development of terrestrial mobile broadband applications. The 3.6 - 4.2 GHz band is considered to be one of candidate and suitable frequency bands. As this band is used worldwide by the FSS for downlink (space-to-Earth) transmissions, a sharing study shall be performed. Radio Regulation and ITU-R Recommendations provide the interference criteria and the apportionment of the allowable error performance degradations to protect fixed-satellite services. The interference criteria are described in the Recommendations ITU-R S.1432 and SF.1006, and the sharing studies can be performed with these criteria along with the propagation model defined in the Recommendation ITU-R P.452. This paper presents the results of the sharing studies performed between the particular FSS earth station and IMT systems.
