A Study on Constructing High Rate Punctured Convolutional Codes by Using Dual Codes (II)

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Punctured convolutional codes are widely used
for high rate information transmission with effective error correction.
We present a method for constructing good punctured convolutional codes by using dual codes derived from known good punctured convolutional codes,
and show the performance of the obtained punctured codes is superior to that of original codes.
It is known that better punctured code can be obtained as the rate of original codes become lower.
We show punctured convolutional codes with good performance can be
constructed by using dual codes to punctured codes derived from original codes
with rate lower than 1/2,
which are created by rate 1/2 original codes associated with the best punctured convolutional codes.
