Validation of Power-saving by Air-conditioning Control Using Temperature Estimation Method by Multiple Regression Analysis

(in English) Power consumption in data centers is increasing sharply. Therefore, a strategy that reduces their power consumption is necessary. Especially, the power consumption of cooling systems that account for about 30% of it in data centers has to be reduced. To reduce cooling systems power consumption, the temperature settings of air conditionings should be increased. However, high temperature can lead to a failure of ICT devices. To prevent this, we propose the temperature estimation method and air conditioning control algorithm to determine the lower power consumption of air conditionings and keep the ICT device temperature below a specific value. Experimental results indicate that the temperature estimation has good accuracy and air conditioning control algorithm leads to a reduction in power consumption.
